ORDER IN ISLAMIC LIFESTYLE

ORDER IN ISLAMIC LIFESTYLE

Shaikh Obaidullah Khalid

In the whole universe, created by Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalaa), the Almighty, every single particle is working according to the Divine principles as per His commands. Human being born in this mortal world, grows, eats and drinks, stays till his departure, passing the months and years of life. All this is going on under the systematic scheme of nature designed by Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalaa), the Almighty.

If one ponders over it, he will realize that in everything — related to his individual life or family and social life — there is a discipline, an order. This organized manner and arrangement crafts beauty and charm in the universe and in the life of human being himself. Even if some chaos and disorder is felt in life, it is still under the rules of Divinely organized scheme. Nothing in human life is against the Divinely induced discipline. One of the greatest secrets of success in the world is hidden in the Divine discipline of nature established by the Lord Almighty. In known human history, no culture, no society, no religion has achieved peace and progress without this discipline.

Islam is a complete order. Rather, the organization and order found in Islamic teachings is hardly part of any other religion or culture. If Islamic teachings are studied in this context, it is clear that Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalaa) wants to create this order and discipline in the lives of those who believe in Islam and those who practice it. The temperament Islamic teachings inculcate in humans is in fact the temperament of discipline of obeying Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalaa). The teachings of Islam are really the teachings of discipline. From dawn to dusk, and till bedtime, the details and commands of all the big and small steps or events that can happen in human life are in fact in an orderly pattern.

One cannot find such a comprehensive and clear discipline in any culture, institution or religion of the world that Islam provides to us Muslims. Have you ever considered what a great religion Islam is that has a description and teaching for every issue? For example, a particle gets stuck in between the teeth while eating. What does Islam suggest if it comes out of the teeth through the sole effort of the tongue, and what Islam instructs if it comes out of the mouth with the help of foreign object like toothpick? The details and sequence of all the stages of human being since his birth till his death are well covered in Islamic teachings. This organization sometimes reflects in the form of Quraanic commentaries, sometimes in the commentary on Hadeeth and sometimes in the details of Jurisprudence.

All these penetrate into the practical lives of the pious people. Their lives tell us how to incorporate this order and discipline in routine and exceptional acts of daily lives. It also tell us how to organize our lives in the light of Divine commandments. The person and the society in which there is no organization and order, is a spoilt, deteriorated and ignorant society; and the people of the society who are living in an orderly manner are the people of a well-organized and well-informed society.

So not only our Salaah (Prayers), Sawm (Fasting), Zakaah (Charity), Hajj (Pilgrimage), and all the Fardh (Obligatory) and Nafl (Optional) acts of ‘Ibaadaat (Worships), but every action of life should be a mirror of the fact that there is order in our life, there is discipline in our life.

The life as a Muslim should be a life under Islam that reflects Islamic teachings and avoid displaying any single thread of disbelief and Atheism.

Remember, we are the representative of Islam; we, as ‘Abd (Servant) of Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalaa) represent best of His creations; we, as a follower of the last and final Prophet of Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta’aalaa), Hadhrat Muhammad (SallAllaho ‘Alaihe WaSallam) represent him. These aspects of representation should be reflected in our every action, every word.
